Westport Motorcycle Officer Hit By Car

WESTPORT, Conn. – Westport Police Officer Craig Bergamo escaped serious injury Tuesday morning after the police motorcycle he was riding was hit by a car at Long Lots Road and Bayberry Lane, police said.

Bergamo, a five-year veteran of the department, was traveling east on Long Lots when he was struck by a vehicle traveling south on Bayberry Lane, police say. Bergamo sustained minor injuries in the collision.

Witnesses reported that the vehicle that struck Bergamo did not stop at the stop sign on Bayberry Lane, police reported. The accident was still under investigation.
