Douglass Dowty / The Post-StandardNo one was injured tonight after a fire broke out at 10 Blueberry Road, in Clay.

Clay, NY -- About 20 people -- including 15 children -- escaped a fire tonight at a Halloween party in Clay's Bayberry subdivision, fire officials said.

The 9 p.m. fire was reported in an upstairs bedroom at 10 Blueberry Road. The occupants first tried to pour water on it, but evacuated after it grew quickly, said Alice Jamison, whose family owns the residence.

"The flames went up fast," Jamison said. "We got out real quick."

About 45 firefighters, six fire engines and two heavy rescue vehicles responded, said Moyers Corners Fire Chief Ed Wisnowski.

No one was injured. The Red Cross was helping the occupants, including four people who live there, Jamison said.

The fire was extinguished quickly. Its cause is under investigation.

Good to see everyone made it out and no firemen were injuried. cuoncloud9 come on man lighten up on the comment. These men and women work hard at their everyday jobs and then work twice as hard being a firemen. More so then that a family lost everything they worked so hard for and you come out with a comment like that. I hope and pray this family didn't lose everything in the fire.
