MINISTER WANTS SEMPORNA PRODUCTS MARKETED AGGRESSIVELY

Post on: 2011-11-02 By: admin

SEMPORNA (Sabah), Oct 29 (Bernama) -- Minister in the Chief Minister''s
Department and Senallang assemblyman Datuk Seri Nasir Tun Sakaran has asked
related government agencies to aggressively market Semporna''s agricultural
products.
Based on feedback from Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk
Seri Noh Omar at the Semporna produce exhibit yesterday, he said some of them
had potential in the national and international markets.
"We feel government agencies such as the Federal Agriculture Marketing
Authority (Fama) can identify products to be cultivated and marketed by the
local community," said Nasir after closing the Semporna 1Malaysia community
programme and the 2011 Farmers, Breeders and Fishermen''s Day here, today.
"The local people lack exposure on how and where they can market their
products. They get discouraged and so don''t expand or fail in their endeavours,"
he said.
Nasir also urged local entrepreneurs to continue enhancing the quality of
their products in terms of hygiene and packaging by attending courses conducted
by government agencies.
